The server ESTHER (ESTerases and alpha/beta-Hydrolase Enzymes and Relatives) is dedicated to the analysis of proteins or protein domains belonging to the superfamily of alpha/beta-hydrolases, exemplified by the cholinesterases.

The 12th Meeting on Cholinesterases took place last week September 2015 together with the Sixth International Conference on Paraoxonases, Alicante, Spain. It was a success (12th ChE)
NEW The 15th International Symposium on Cholinergic Mechanisms is now scheduled for October 16-20th, 2016 (NEW DATE), Marseille, France. (XVth ISCM).

Crystal Structures of four domain nonribosomal peptide synthetase (only the fourth domain is an alha/beta hydrolase) from Acinetobacter baumannii and Escherichia coli are available (4ZXH, 4ZXI, 4ZXJ and published by Drake et al. Crystal structure of a cloned feruloyl esterase from a soil metagenomic library is available (4ZRS) and published by Cao et al.

    Multiple mutations on the second acetylcholinesterase gene associated with dimethoate resistance in the Melon Aphid, Aphis gossypii (Hemiptera: Aphididae) are published by Lokeshwari et al. Multiple mutations in the acetylcholinesterase 3 gene associated with organophosphate resistance in Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus ticks from Punjab, India are published by Jyoti et al.

    The 15th International Symposium on Cholinergic Mechanisms is now scheduled for October 16-20th, 2016, Marseille, France (XVth ISCM). Visualizing the mechanism of epoxide hydrolysis by the bacterial virulence enzyme Cif is published by Bahl et al. and structures of mutants with substrate, covalent intermediate or product are available (4DMC, 4DNF, 4EHB, 4DNO, 4EUS). Structures of an acetylester hydrolase from Corynebacterium glutamicum (5D7B, 5D6O) and of the acetyl esterase MekB (5EFZ, 5E4Y) are available and define a new family of bacterial enzymes homologous to L-homoserine O-acetyl transferases (Homoserine_transacetylase_like_est). This new family is published by Toelzer et al... Steric and dynamic parameters influencing in situ cycloadditions to form triazole inhibitors with crystalline acetylcholinesterase are published by Bourne et al. and structures (5EHN, 5EHQ, 5EIH, 5EIA, 5EIE, 5EHZ) are available. Crystal structure of mouse acetylcholinesterase inhibited by DFP (5HCU) is available and published by Katz et al.. The Type II Secreted Lipase/Esterase LesA is a key virulence factor required for Xylella fastidiosa pathogenesis in grapevines and is published by Nascimento et al.

    Steric and dynamic parameters influencing in situ cycloadditions to form triazole inhibitors with crystalline acetylcholinesterase are published by Bourne et al. and structures will be available soon. Structure of a new cold- active and salt tolerant esterase from the marine bacterium Thalassospira sp (4V2I) is available and will be published soon by Santi et al. Crystal and molecular structure of hexagonal form of lipase B from Candida antarctica is published by Strzelczyk et al. and structure (4ZV7) is available. Structures and Activity of Glycosylated and Aglycosylated Human Carboxylesterase 1 are available (5A7F, 5A7G, 5A7G) and published by Arena de Souza et al.
